MEMBERS of the Tamborine Mountain AH&I Society remembered the dedication of their late President, Anne Hoitink, to the Showgrounds and honoured her by augmenting the name of the Showground pavilion in her memory.
Many of Anne’s family attended the unveiling of a plaque in her memory, including her husband Leo, children and grandchildren.
Society President, Vanessa Bull, said the Hall was built in 1932 as a Memorial Hall, dedicated to those who lost their lives in the first World War.
Since then, the War Memorial on the corner of Geissman Drive and Main Street was erected and the Society felt it was fitting to honour Anne, who gave 32 years of her life to running Tamborine Mountain Showgrounds, by adding her name to the Pavilion, now the Anne Hoitink Memorial Pavilion.
“Anne was Treasurer for eight years, then stepped up to became President for the next 12 years,” said Vanessa.
“Anne remained President right up until the day she passed away, she actually remained the President until a meeting was held where Show Society members voted in a new President.”
“Anne was dedicated to this organisation. We thank her family for understanding and allowing her to spend so many years, so much of her time involved with the Show Society.”
“I would also to like thank the Show Society Committee for staying strong at the time of Anne’s passing; it was a particularly difficult time, trying to grieve for our friend and run a Show.”
“Anne was a loved and respected member of the Show Society Committee; we miss her dearly.”
