Tamborine Mountain’s vibrant music scene was well-represented at the 2025 Gold Coast Music Awards (GCMAs), with three local acts taking home major honours during the ceremony at HOTA on November 27.
Singer–songwriter Beckah Amani secured Artist of the Year, adding to a rapidly rising national profile that has included performing with Coldplay, supporting Jorja Smith and earning widespread critical acclaim.
At the award ceremony, Beckah said the recognition felt deeply meaningful.
“It’s amazing to celebrate Australian Music Month here today with you all, and it’s amazing to be recognised,” she said.
“We artists couldn’t do what we do without the people who support us… it’s not easy to be an artist, and it’s amazing for us all to be here to celebrate together.”
Fellow Tamborine Mountain–connected artist Lyric won Breakout Artist of the Year, following a standout year that included two Triple J Like A Version appearances and a growing national fanbase.
“Thank you so much, this is crazy… it’s been a really unbelievable year,” Lyric said.
“I wouldn’t be here without my family, friends and team. Their support has meant everything.”
Indie-rock outfit Blind Corners also claimed a major win, taking out the Gold Coast Music Prize, which includes a full year of industry mentorship, professional development and performance opportunities.
The band, nominated in three categories including Release of the Year and Song of the Year, described their nominations earlier as a “lovely acknowledgement of hard work.”
Tamborine Mountain’s other finalists included Sunny Luwe (Musician of the Year – Vocals) and Haystack Mountain Hermits (Live Act of the Year), rounding out a strong presence for the region.
