For Tamborine Mountain Community Care Association (TMCCA), 2026 will see much of the same as for 2025.
We shall continue striving to provide Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) services to registered clients to enable them to remain living in their own homes for as long as possible.
Living in your own home, often referred to as aging in place, offers significant benefits for your independence, well-being, social connections, and financial security.
It allows you to maintain control over your daily life in a familiar and comfortable environment.
Staying in your own home allows you to keep control over your daily routines, schedules, and lifestyle choices, such as when you eat, sleep, and socialize. This sense of self-worth and control is vital for mental health and confidence.
Living in your established community makes it easier to maintain relationships with friends, family, and neighbours, which is crucial for combating loneliness and isolation.
You can continue participating in local events, attending community organisations, and engaging in the social networks that you’ve built.
Services that TMCCA are funded to deliver include Domestic Assistance, Gardening, Individual and Group Social Support, Transport and Podiatry.
Unfortunately, there are wait times for most services due to the high demand and insufficient government funding to meet the demand as the population ages.
For 2026, TMCCA are considering investing (through a grant application), in a wheelchair accessible vehicle but first we need to evaluate if there is a demand within the community that will justify the expense of the initial purchase and the ongoing expenditure for maintenance and insurance. Feedback from the community is sought to help with the evaluation process.
Have you needed a wheelchair accessible vehicle but struggled to access one? Did you find a resolution? All responses appreciated.
