BAD weather has had its effect on many things over the past few months.
Members of the Tamborine CWA were also affected when they tried to put on a flower stall for Mother’s Day recently.
When they looked into their backyards, they discovered that they had very few flowers to pick.
As such, they put out an SOS to the community to help out and were delighted when they were inundated with donations.
They also received a $200 donation from Clint Minifie from Treepro.
The flower stall is one of the many ways that they raise money to support charity throughout the year.
President Sandy Murphy appreciated all of the flower donations which gave their bouquets some colour.
“Because of this season, there’s hardly any flowers out, and of course in the lead up to Mother’s Day week, all the flower farms were already in such high demand,” she said.
“The locals dropped four garbage bags of flowers off. With their flowers plus the $200 donation, we had heaps of colour in the end.”
Through the community donations, the CWA members were able to make up 12 bunches of flowers to sell.
They ended up selling out and had raised over $1,800 to go towards helping local women and families.
Sandy was proud to be able to introduce Tamborine CWA to the community through the Mother’s Day stall.
“It was all so well received and well supported,” she said.
“It was such a pleasure to say hello to all the people who stopped in and had heard of us.”
They even recruited a new member out of it.
Their next stall will be for Father’s Day, held on September 6 at the Tamborine Memorial Hall.
