After years of living and working around the world, Raylene and Colin Gilpin have chosen Tamborine Mountain as the place to build a unique sanctuary.
Raylene has spent over two decades in senior leadership roles across corporate, health and government sectors and is now focusing more closely on her long-standing passion for supporting people’s mental health.
With qualifications in business, counselling, clinical hypnotherapy and psychotherapy, she hopes to help people realise a new reality.
Her work centres on what she calls “reframing” — gently shifting the way we see our experiences, our challenges and even our past. Rather than endlessly revisiting old wounds, her approach focuses on building clarity, perspective and practical tools that help people move forward.
That philosophy has taken shape in two connected ventures on the mountain.
Mountain Sanctuary Retreat
A boutique, adults-only rainforest escape designed for rest, reconnection and a little luxury. Raylene plans to host small retreats with a difference — experiences that are expressive, supportive and filled with joy.
“Retreat doesn’t have to mean going silent for three days,” she said. “Sometimes it means being real, being creative, sharing laughter — and maybe eating cake while you talk about life.”
The retreat will also offer guests the option to combine their stay with on-site counselling support. Whether it’s couples wanting to reconnect, individuals navigating life changes, or someone simply needing space away from daily pressures, the mountain setting offers room to reflect, with professional guidance available if and when needed.
Raylene Gilpin Reframing
Alongside the retreat, Raylene works with adults, couples and teenagers navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationships and personal growth. Her forward-focused approach centres on reframing, helping people shift perspective, build resilience and move toward the future with greater clarity and strength.
Sessions can take place in a comfortable setting or outside amongst the trees, taking in the peacefulness of the mountain, allowing the mind to settle naturally.
The Gilpins hope to create a space that feels welcoming and connected to the community and look forward to supporting locals who’d like to just drop in over a cup of coffee and cake.
