Scenic Rim boxer Dylan Biggs will have another opportunity to add to his championship credentials when he faces experienced international opponent Kudratillo Abdukakhorov for the WBC Australasia Middleweight Championship at Big Fights 44 on November 7 in Toowoomba.
The 24-year-old will enter his 21st professional bout following a successful return to the ring in Ipswich, ending an extended period of inactivity.
Biggs said securing another fight so quickly had been a welcome change after spending much of the year waiting for an opportunity.
“We already wasted half the year. I feel like we had to at least close it out with another one,” he said.
“Everything’s starting to line up now. We’re getting some fights going, taking bigger and bigger steps in quality of opponent.”
Abdukakhorov brings considerable international experience to the contest, having previously competed against world-level fighters.
Biggs said he believed his youth and professional experience would help counter Abdukakhorov’s background on the international stage.
“You’re training just as much as I am. You’ve got nothing that I don’t have,” he said.
“I’ve got plenty of experience. The only thing he’s got is maybe a bit more experience on the higher stage.
“But I can make up for it in youth.”
According to Biggs’ coach Justin O’Leary, Abdukakhorov was once ranked number one by the World Boxing Association (WBA).
“He’s never been stopped,” Justin said.
“He’s lost a couple close ones there, but he’s fought at a much higher level.”
For Biggs, returning to regular competition has provided renewed motivation.
“It’s definitely a weight lifted. I feel like I put so much into the camp,” he said.
“An eight-month-long camp, just building myself and then losing a bit of hope and then trying to prepare myself back into it again.”
Biggs said maintaining his fitness throughout the year allowed him to accept opportunities without needing lengthy preparation.
“I was back in the gym like two days later after the Ipswich fight. I didn’t really stop,” he said.
“It’s more of a blessing than it is a curse.”
While another fight before Christmas appears unlikely, Biggs hopes to return to the ring early in 2027 as he continues pursuing bigger international opportunities.
