The Tamborine Mountain Relays and Marathon returns on Sunday January 25, 2026, and organiser Steve Jackson says it continues to evolve as one of the great community events in the region.
Mr Jackson is from Gold Coast based event company; Trail Trips and Events.
He has participated in the event in the past and loved the event so much that he jumped at the chance to take on custodianship and continue the good work of Bruce Hargraves and Guy Roberts.
Giving back
Once again, the local community will benefit from the marathon which raises funds for the Little Athletics program and Tamborine Mountain Sports Association.
Participants can choose to complete a marathon in teams or solo, which means the event has become a local favourite with runners, walkers, gym goers and sports fans.
The course loop is just over seven kilometres long and the format allows participants to race as an individual or in teams of two, three or six members with the ultimate goal of completing a 26 mile (42km) marathon as a unit.
New event for juniors
In 2026 the event welcomes a new addition to its program – a cross-country event for juniors on Friday night to conclude the usual Little Athletics program.
The two kilometre event will be open to all (not only Little Athletics participants) and will be free to enter, with a medal and treats adding to the excitement.
Business support
The support of the local business community has been essential to the running of the marathon.
This support ensures the continuity of the race, with Tamborine Mountain Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic headlining the support as the events naming rights partner.
Clinic physiotherapist Travis Drummond will join with colleagues to participate on the day.
“We love that this event captures the joy of an active lifestyle and the camaraderie of the teams and support crews,” Mr Drummond said.
“Having friends and families being active in our own, spectacular backyard is very important to us.”
All competitors will receive a unique Australian-themed medal, a timing for their run and credit at the canteen to kickstart their recovery!
Entries are now open, so round up the crew and enter today online at https://www.tmrelay.com/
