THIS World Singing Day the hills will be alive with the sound of music – or at least Tamborine Mountain will be.

Bella A’Cappella, a community female chorus based on the mountain, have been busy with a series of workshops leading up to World Singing Day.

Their Musical Director, Dianne James, said another female chorus will join Bella A’Cappella in their performance at  the Rhoda Rushbrook Park on Gallery Walk on World Singing Day, Saturday 19 October.

World Singing Day is the global sing-along for everyone.

Each year on the third Saturday in October, people all over the world gather in groups of all sizes in schools, pubs, parks, plazas and homes to sing and celebrate our common humanity.

People of all ages, backgrounds and singing abilities can join in and sing.

Founded in 2012 by Colorado (USA) musician Scott Johnson, World Singing Day brings people together in their communities all around the world through the simple act of singing together.

It is a community experience for musicians and non-musicians alike, from shower singers to celebrities, as they gather in their communities and sing together without the pressure of performing.

Dianne has been facilitating weekly one hour workshops which commenced on Wednesday September 15 and will continue each week until Wednesday October 16 for any women interested in singing with the four part harmony group on World Singing Day.

It is not too late to join the workshops and learn the songs they will be performing on October 19.
