Yoga under the Bodhi tree

WE’VE just returned from our Yoga Retreat in Springbrook, Queensland.

This beautiful, ancient, untouched part of the world holds an incredible energy and is the perfect place to find peace, clarity and to initiate change. And the practice of Yoga is the vehicle to accomplish any of these goals.

A big part of yoga, Tantra Yoga in particular, is using the elements of the Universe let go of the old and launch new beginnings.

The five elements being: earth, water, fire, air and ether.

Fire is loved by many spiritual traditions.

The physical act of using the energy of fire to destroy also hold the promise renewal.

We see this in the Australian bush. Some plants, such as the Eucalyptus and Banksia, have serotinous cones or fruits that are completely sealed with resin.

These cones can only open to release their seeds after the heat of a fire has physically melted the resin.

Our primitive selves, our bodies which have not evolved much over the last 6000 years even though our lifestyles have, instinctively respond to an open fire, just like our ancestors.

We collect emotional energy in our guts, the solar plexus area which is your social chakra and your centre of personal power.

If the people you associate with have lots of baggage (much of the world) your energy body can start to feel heavy and polluted. Fire cleans our energy body.

So, we use this Vedic fire ceremony to burn away the old and unwanted, and manifest the new.
