The year is well underway with Tamborine Mountain Lions Club members roaring into action.
Every month parking at the Showgrounds, the market is coordinated and for a donation by cash or card, people can safely park off street on the oval.
Next, a good snack is available at the newly painted food van.
Bacon and egg rolls, burgers and sausages are cooked to order by teams all morning and soft drinks, water, tea or coffee quench any thirst.
Christmas cakes and puddings are on sale all year for those who like traditional fruit cake.
TMLC has a number of special local projects including Mountain Mates which was set up by Janis and Warwick Bailey in 2016 to provide activities and social interactions for young people with disabilities.
This project has grown enormously over the years.
There has been great support from locals, especially Barry Chatel and Linda Simister and the Taipans at Club Tamborine who started monthly Friday bowling and Buddy Bowls.
Mountain Mates are off to a flying start with drumming facilitated by Paul and Andrea from Lower Beechmont, Friday bowling, a planning session and lunch at The Diner and a screening of the Christmas play, The Greatest Talent Show at the Zamia Theatre.
They have also had a gardening planning session to discuss the refurbishment of the edible food gardens outside the library with donations from the Tamborine Mountain Garden Club and Clive Lucas Landscaping Supplies.
TMLC supports local, state, national and international projects ranging from the Lions Park on Curtis Road where the aim is to acquire toilet facilities, the Chainsaw Warriors, flood relief, breast cancer cushions, Royal Flying Doctor Service, to Youth of the Year and International Pece Poster and many more.
There is a weekly raffle on Saturday morning outside IGA.
TMLC has a monthly dinner meeting at The Manor and a monthly business meeting at TMSA.
New members, especially those with purpose and passion to volunteer a couple of hours each month to connect with the local community are warmly welcome.
