NEW residents to Tamborine Mountain often bring with them innovative ideas that help to enhance the health and well-being of the community.

Professional musicians Emma and Andrew Heading-Knight hope to have done just that after moving to the area just a few years ago to escape the cold of Melbourne.

The former members of the Royal Australian Air Force Band have continued on their musical journey by opening a shop on Main Western Road.

Titled Innovative Music and Sounds the business is far from a just a place to learn to play musical instruments, although they are ready to fine tune any local musician.

Andrew is an accomplished musical composer and offers locals the chance to create their own unique musical piece for any occasion.

He was recently asked to create an arrangement for the Tamborine Mountain Orchestra as a celebration for the local area.

While you may expect the same type of services from some other musical outlets it’s the third string to their bow which is sure to create a lot of interest.

“We have recently finished a 12 month diploma with the Sound Healing Academy in England to help us introduce this practice locally,” Emma said.

“Sound Healing is far from new and has been carried out for centuries by many cultures.

“We have a room set up where we provide 90 minute sessions for clients utilising a variety of instruments such as tuning forks, gongs, Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, shakers and we even may include modern instruments such as flute or trombone.

“In essence Sound Healing takes you into a state of deep relaxation moving you out of the fight or flight mode allowing your body to enter a healing state.”
