Situated amongst the rainforest within the Scenic Rim is The Gallery at Tamborine Mountain Glades known to many as Thunderbird Park.
Officially opened on 3 November 2021 by the Hon. Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO. It is a warm and inviting space provided by the owners of Tamborine Mountain Glades, Bob and Judi Minnikin to host the work of artists in the Scenic Rim. From the beginning these gracious benefactors wanted to showcase local artists and decided upon the Main Reception area of Tamborine Mountain Glades / Thunderbird Park as the perfect place to do so.
Every gallery needs a Curator and Exhibition Co-ordinator and ours is one of the best, Louise Grove Wiechers. Louise is continually updating the gallery, so the displays are always fresh. Louise is extremely welcoming and supportive, and I’m excited to be the newest artist honoured to exhibit.
My name is Connie Moloney and I love painting not only the stunning birdlife on Tamborine Mountain but also the beautiful flora and fauna of this piece of paradise. The other extremely talented current exhibiting artists include: Trish Price, Karen Field, Helen Griffin, Debaran Wright, Abi Chaloupka and Louise Grove Wiechers.
The annual Tamborine Mountain Arts Trail TMAC highlights artists of many genres on the Mountain, and The Gallery is one of the numerous venues open to the public. The great plus for artists attached to The Gallery is that it is open all year round for the thousands of visitors who come to play and stay at Tamborine Mountain Glades and Thunderbird Park. Many of the diners who frequent the Rainforest Restaurant next to the main reception area are in the perfect place to feast their eyes on the countless works of art on display. Unlike many other galleries there is plenty of seating within the gallery to enjoy the art around them while having a coffee and a chat.
