Taipans strike early in district sevens campaign

Current Men’s Singles champion David Bartholomeusz performs well on and off the green, entertaining competitors during the recent triples tournament

THE first round of the District Sevens competition saw one of our Taipans sides playing at home and recording a resounding victory, defeating the Benowa Bees on all three rinks with a substantial margin.

Our away Taipans side was not as fortunate at Southport but still managed to secure a valuable rink win.

Both sides were eager to improve again in Round Two on Valentine’s Day, however the weather had other ideas, and the matches were unfortunately called off.

With only a short home-and-away season, upcoming games will be pivotal to our chances in the competition.

We look forward to reporting on another strong performance.

The inclement weather did not prevent our Thursday Twilight bowls from going ahead, with plenty of fun and laughter enjoyed by all.

If you have ever thought about giving bowls a try, why not come along?

Join us from 5pm every Thursday for a relaxed afternoon of fun, some nibbles and a cold drink, while learning the skills of the game in a welcoming environment.

The date has also been set for our popular biannual Mountain Mates Buddy Bowls Day.

Mark your calendars for 9.30am on Saturday May 9 and come along to see the extraordinary Mountain Mates team up with their partnered club bowlers.

Whether they are carried to victory or simply enjoy the occasion, it promises to be a fantastic morning.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsor Leonie Rennie, the Mountain Mates will share in prize money, adding an extra boost to the day.

Club championship matches are progressing well, with our bowlers kept busy as several competitions reach the pointy end.

Supporters and spectators have been treated to some highly skilled contests, and we hope to announce finals dates soon, so everyone has the opportunity to watch our best in action.
