Tamborine Mountain Little Athletics has marked the end of its 2025/26 season, with athletes, families and volunteers gathering for the Centre’s annual presentation afternoon.
The event was held at Island Glade at Tamborine Mountain Glades, which has hosted the presentation for the past four years.
Across the season, the Centre recorded 129 athletes, just short of its participation record, and conducted 15 meets.
Those meets produced 1,260 personal best performances, averaging 84 per meet, while 65 Centre records were broken. Two meets saw 11 records fall in a single night.
Centre Manager Hope Kerslake said the focus of the season remained on participation and development, alongside competition.
“Little Athletics on the mountain is about more than sport, it’s about community, confidence, and kids just having a go at each event,” she said.
“Seeing our athletes grow each week, support each other, and celebrate their achievements is what it’s all about.”
The presentation also recognised the contribution of volunteers, with weekly meets supported by committee members, coaches and parents.
“Behind every Friday night is a team of volunteers giving up their time to make it all happen,” Kerslake said.
“Our committee, coaches and parents go above and beyond, often balancing full-time jobs and busy family lives, yet they always step up for the kids.”
A community raffle held as part of the event raised $2,000 for the Centre, supported by donations from 12 local businesses.
The prize pool was valued at $1,450, with funds to be directed towards athlete development and facility improvements.
Spirit Awards were also presented, recognising sportsmanship, teamwork and encouragement, with recipients nominated by parents.
“What makes the Spirit Award so meaningful is that it’s nominated by our parents, who are there week in, week out,” Kerslake said.
“It recognises the athletes who show great sportsmanship, always try their best, and support those around them – which is what Little Athletics is all about.”
