Tornado, cyclone – what’s next for the Mountain?

Tamborine Mountain Storm

We all know Tamborine Mountain has experienced its share of disasters in recent years. The Tamborine Mountain Disaster Management Group, TMDMG, has been active in improving community resilience should another disaster come our way.

The group consists of local representatives from emergency services, businesses, community groups  and Councillors. They have come together to provide a network capable of organising the best possible community response in the event of another disaster. The group is currently working towards improving preparedness prior to the coming Severe Weather Season; they want our community to be prepared.

The group will host a community-focused, 3-hour workshop on disaster preparation on Saturday, 6thSeptember: 1 – 4 pm at the Vonda Youngman Community Centre, North Tamborine.

This is a practical afternoon to help locals think about how they can best respond should another disaster befall the Mountain. It will be interactive, involving activities and clear information.

Come along and benefit from the expertise of our local emergency services; all community members are invited and encouraged to attend. Wouldn’t it be great to know you were disaster-ready, should another disaster impact our community?
