Nicole Phillips, 36, is a makeup artist and beauty therapist by day, netball enthusiast by night.
Nicole’s passion for netball developed in 2013 when she began her fitness journey after having her children. She started playing Monday night social netball games in Beenleigh.
Since then, she has continued to play weekly in both social games and tournaments.
“I played when I was younger, in primary school, then I stopped. Once I got back into fitness after having two kids I started up into netball and I’m still playing,” she says.
“At one point I was doing Monday night, Tuesday morning, Tuesday night, Wednesday morning and then tournaments on the weekend.”
She will be participating once again in the Indoor Netball competition of the Pan Pacific Masters Games.
Nicole’s team, the Cruizers, is made of ten players who have high hopes for this year.
“We do have high expectations; we are very competitive,” Nicole says.
This isn’t Nicole’s first Pan Pacific games, but she intends to finally bring home a medal.
“I haven’t won one yet, hopefully this is the year.”
“We’ll be playing ten games, depending on if we make the finals.”
Over the duration of the games, Nicole’s children and husband will be on the sidelines cheering her on.
“My 15 year old plays with me on my Monday team; she’s really good,” Nicole says.
“I reckon she’s going to be better than me.”
Nicole has had a lot of people ask her to play competitively.
“I’ve had a lot of people hit me up to play in Super Leagues, which is a higher competition than the social,” she says.
“But I don’t want to wreck my love of playing.”
