The Macdonnell Road retirement village developer has lodged an appeal with the Planning and Environment Court against Council’s refusal.
All eligible submitters should have received a notice of the appeal which advised of their appeal rights, noting the time limit.
For those who queried if the provision of a full list of submitter’s names and addresses was a privacy breach, it isn’t.
Those details have been publicly available via Council’s DAP Online page since submissions closed more than 12 months ago.
I’m sure Living Gems (Kidd Street) will also lodge an appeal.
Springtime on the Mountain
Mayor Tom Sharp will officially open this much-anticipated event at 10.15am Friday September 25 at Belicia garden on Beacon Road.
This event runs for three days.
I will be volunteering on the gates across all days at different gardens.

Rewilding
Congratulations to Thunderbird Park owners and staff for taking the initiative to commence a community-led rewilding conservation initiative dedicated to restoring habitat, protecting biodiversity and connecting people with nature.
It was a pleasure to attend the launch, get my hands dirty and plant some native shrubs, albeit with the help of a powered auger as the ground was so hard!
TMSA
Well done to the Tamborine Mountain Sports Association as the new committee goes from strength to strength in delivering new fields and infrastructure for the benefit of the community.
An example of what can be achieved when State Government, Council and community organisations work together for the betterment of Mountain.
Disaster preparation
Thanks also to Arran Hassell and the volunteers who put together the emergency management exercise at the Showgrounds on September 12. Good to see in excess of 50 locals in attendance.
Dingo
The “dingo/wild dog” (no more hate mail/aggro Facebook posts please) will be removed by council as it is becoming more threatening, aggressive and invading residential yards including verandahs.
It cannot be re-homed or re-located.
Abuse
In a recent media release, Mayor Tom Sharp said that isolated instances of online abuse of councillors and unacceptable behaviour towards frontline council staff served as a reminder to the wider community of the need for basic courtesy.
I am currently out of pocket in excess of $3,500 as a result of taking action against a nasty repeat Facebook poster, however that should be rectified via court action following the imminent issue of a summons as the removal of the four most offensive posts alone did not satisfy the two notices issued by my solicitor.
Approvals
A desk-top review of function centre and wedding venue Council approvals vs their advertising shows significant discrepancies between what is approved and what is being promoted. Time to self-assess and abide by approvals such as visitor numbers before compliance action is initiated. I am over businesses which flagrantly ignore approval conditions.
Forum
On September 18 councillors attended the SEQ Local Govt Forum in Brisbane which covered diverse topics including digital innovation, AI, Planning SEQ of Tomorrow, and the future of telecommunications, housing and transport.
