An excellent outcome and a win, however temporary, for our community re the Kidd St and Macdonnell Rd retirement villages.
Now we await the inevitable P&E Court appeals.

One correction: there was one submission in support of Kidd St.
Any “retirement” village proposed should be under a combined application for an aged care facility to truly enable aging in place, rather than merely paying lip service to this concept, in my opinion.
Roadworks continue on Gallery Walk.
The order of works (road before carpark completion) was dictated by the State Government, otherwise the carpark would have been completed first.
The roadworks include extensive drainage rather than being purely cosmetic.
Having spoken to the majority of business owners, whilst trade is down, the businesses are open and local support would be appreciated.
Graffiti
Council has constructed a new columbarium at our cemetery and the new amenities block at Dapsang Dr has been opened.
Unfortunately, it has already had its first dose of graffiti.
Dining Precinct
I am not in favour of a “dining precinct” being identified along Main Western Rd from the roundabout and including Main St.
We do not need to have precincts – we are not the Gold Coast.
Complaints
I continue to receive complaints about unlawful tree clearing by those who disregard the rules. Unfortunately some tree removalists don’t ask to see an approval or exemption before the work is done; they should be held equally as accountable as the property owner who engaged them. The same applies to some building certifiers who overstep their authority in signing off on sheds, carports and extensions which do not meet setback requirements which require Council approval. I monitor all of these. Council gave support to the re-establishment of a Planning Committee at the August Ordinary Meeting. Vote was 4 in favour, 3 opposed.
Development applications
OPW26/068 713-735 Main Western Rd (the onsens site) Operational works for the “villa carpark, including internal vehicle access, earthworks, pavement construction, line marking, kerbs, stormwater drainage and associated civil works in accordance with the submitted engineering drawings”. A shame the temporary fencing was not erected on/inside the property boundary. Complaints referred to TMR.
MCU26/094 379-385 Long Rd (the former TMU site) “Other change”. Council planners finally saw it my way and did not accept this as a “minor change” which would have been code assessable and signed off under delegated authority. As the proposed changes are not minor, this is now an impact assessable application which will be open to public submissions.
With hotter weather predicted, please take the opportunity to check your water tanks and order water deliveries well ahead of running out.
