STAGE One of construction of an off-road car park in Gallery Walk is set to begin, however Scenic Rim Regional Council was unable to provide a firm start date at the time of print.

Council advised that works would commence at the end of February 2025 and are expected to take 12 months.

The car park is part of a masterplan to ease traffic congestion in the tourist hot spot, with the completed project to include footpath improvements, a new pedestrian crossing for increased safety, and minor upgrades to public toilet facilities on Long Road.

The project is to be delivered in two stages.

Stage One focuses on the construction of the off-street parking which will provide over 100 additional parking spaces.

Works will occur between 6am and 6pm weekdays.

Some night works may be undertaken to minimise disruptions and impact to the public.

Temporary road closures and detours are expected for the duration of the project with signage and traffic managers in place to provide updates and ensure safety.

Access will be maintained to all properties throughout the construction project.

The $4.2 million project is jointly funded by the Queensland Government’s South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program and Scenic Rim Regional Council.

Once funded, Stage Two will involve additional off-street parking, and improvement works on Long Road.
