Brown Gerygone Nest

Brown Gerygone Nest

This marvelously engineered nest is quite a contrast to that of the tawny frogmouth.

The brown gerygone is a small, insectivorous bird which is native to eastern coastal Australia.

The nest is an oval tapered domed structure, made from roots, plant fibres, spider web, moss and lichens, which is suspended from a low branch or vine, with an entrance tunnel to one side.  Both parents feed the young.
