THERE were standing ovations and cheers of delight as students from Tamborine Mountain Dance Academy (TMDA) put on a showcase of their work.
The student’s and teacher’s hard work and dedication throughout the year was evident during the two-hour show held at Tamborine Mountain State High School.
The showcase was the culmination of three terms of preparation, giving students the chance to demonstrate what they had been working towards in their eisteddfod routines, classical ballet, jazz and tap examinations, and regular classwork.
With more than 50 performances across ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and contemporary genres, the programme highlighted the full breadth of TMDA’s training and the artistry and technique of the students.
TMDA Principal, Poppy-Jane Todd, said the showcase was a celebration of the students’ individual and collective achievements throughout the year.
“Each and every one of our students has worked incredibly hard across the past three terms, whether that was in their preparation for competitions, examinations, or simply showing up and pushing themselves week to week in class,” she said.
“Our annual showcase is an opportunity for our students to share that hard work with their families and our wider community. I love seeing the joy and effort that they bring to each performance.”
She said for the youngest performers the Showcase was their very first time on stage, while the seniors presented their own choreography.
Highlights of the night included polished, first-place-winning competition team routines, original student choreography, and the debut of several new solos.
From classical ballet to high-energy jazz, the showcase was a vibrant evening of entertainment that reflected TMDA’s growth and the strength of the local arts community.
TMDA now looks forward to its end of year concert on Friday December 6, where the entire Academy will come together once more to celebrate a year of dance and achievement.
