A NIGHT enjoying fresh oysters, while listening to live music and tasting local wines at a pristine Tamborine Mountain location is just one of the hidden treats offered by the popular Witches Falls Winery.

The oyster and live music nights promotion is another example that the Scenic Rim’s best known wine producer is much more than just a place to call in to sample a wine list.

Established in 2003 by Jon and Kim Heslop the winery has continued to grow and expand as more and more locals and visitors to the region drop in for a drop or two.

Jon has been involved in the wine industry for many years overseeing vintages in Europe and also the Hunter Valley before calling Tamborine Mountain home.

Witches Falls now produces more than 200,000 bottles a year across more than 20 varieties which are available at their cellar door, online and at select bottle shops and restaurants.

Wines are produced using local grapes as well as selected varieties from South Australia and Stanthorpe.

The winery is open seven days a week, but because of its popularity it’s always best to go online and book before you venture to the vineyards.

If you decide to do a wine tasting you’ll enjoy hearing the secrets of the wines as explained by their expert staff while they pour your selections.

The wine tasting will cost you $20 a head and will typically last one hour.

In this time, you will try six different Witches Falls wines, one after the other.

Every wine tasting is unique, you get to choose whether you want to try a red or a white or a selection of both.

According to Jon the tastings are designed to offer freedom and flexibility enhancing a Witches Falls’ experience.

If you have a pet in the backyard who is just craving for a trip out there is goods news for Bluey or Fido as the winery is pet friendly for dogs on leashes.

While there’s no restaurant on-site, they do sell an assortment of locally-produced cheeses, patés, relishes, and other nibbles with which you can build a grazing platter to suit your appetite and budget.

A tasting host will assemble your choices on a platter, providing appropriate cutlery, utensils, napkins leaving you to sip, graze and relax amongst the vines.

All you need to do is to grab a table or spread out your picnic rug.
