The Scenic Rim Regional Cadets held their annual Dining in Night at Club Tamborine on Saturday July 26 2025.
Those present were a representation of the cadet force together with some parents.
Special guests included senior officers of the Cadets L. Col Meade and Major Griffin, Brig Arran Hassall CSC, (RSL State Vice President), Jon Krause, (State MP), Phillip Hunter, (President of the local RSL), and Elizabeth Jobson (RSL Secretary).
Warrant Officer Class 1 Shane Murphy was MC for the night.
The Colour Party marched in with the National Flag and Unit Colours.
Following a delicious meal and excellent service several toasts were made to King, flag, parents and supporters.
A video was shown of the recent activities of the cadets teaching them valuable survival skills in difficult circumstances.
Thanks were given to the parents and volunteers who help on a regular basis to keep the system going. Brig. Hassell gave an insight into his training days at Duntroon and time spent in East Timor and Afghanistan. He learned resilience and care to others.
He stressed the point to the young cadets the value of what they can do for the community.
Jon Krause thanked both the cadets and their families for making better people, giving them an appreciation of history, discipline and hard work.
Phillip Hunter assured the cadets that they would always have the support of the local RSL and thanked them for their assistance on Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services.
At the end of the formal part of the evening came the Kangaroo Court whereby hilarious errors were exposed and miscreants found guilty as charged.
During the informal parts of the evening both Brig. Hassell and Jon Krause made it their business to talk amongst the cadets themselves and heard their stories.
