Gallery Walk is getting a makeover ready to welcome visitors for Springtime on the Mountain.
Volunteers from the Tamborine Mountain Garden Club have been busy beautifying the businesses to ensure the popular tourist spot is filled with glorious colour.
“We want gallery walk to look nice for Springtime on the Mountain,” Garden Club member Linda Knight said.
“The shopkeepers haven’t got the time or knowledge to do the work themselves, so we decided to help them.
She said they had been taking cuttings form their own gardens as well as supporting a local business by buying plants from the plant stand on MacDonnell Road.
“We have weeded and planted the plants which will grow over winter and be ready for springtime,” Linda said.
“Hopefully it gives the shopkeepers some knowledge on how they can keep their shop looking the nice.
“Everyone has been so grateful.”
Christmas on Tamborine director Maggie Fitzpatrick said she was amazed when arrived unexpectedly to brighten up the front of her shop.
“They arrived today in the drizzly weather, prettied up my front garden to the shop and planted new cuttings and did the same with The Artizen Cafe next door. Tidying up weeds and cutting back what was needed to,” she said.
“They did an amazing job and would only accept a tea and coffee for their work. I feel that they deserve a shout out for taking such time and trouble in trying to make Gallery Walk a beautiful place of colour to visit.
“I’m looking forward to the rain stopping, the sun shining and watching my new flowers blossom. I asked for red and white to add Christmas colours to the garden and they did just that.
“It made me smile, even through the rain. They totally restored my faith in people and proved how wonderful the people on the mountain are and how lucky I am to not only have a business up here, but to live up here too.”
Linda said weeding and knowing which plants to plant where was the key to transforming the Gallery Walk and it would be an added attraction for visitors coming to the mountain for Springtime on the Mountain in September.
