St Bernard State School came alive with colour, creativity and imagination on Tuesday, August 25, as students celebrated the annual Book Character Parade.
This year’s parade embraced the Symphony of Stories theme from the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s (CBCA) Children’s Book Week, with students from across the school dressing as their favourite book characters. From much-loved classics to creative and imaginative characters, the students’ costumes showcased their love of reading and the magic that stories can inspire.
The parade was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, with many families attending to cheer on the students. Siblings were also invited to join in, making it a special celebration for the whole family.
Principal Sam Birch said the parade was a wonderful reflection of the school’s community spirit.
“It’s wonderful to see our students so excited about books and to have our families come together to celebrate their imagination and love of stories. Days like this are a real highlight of our school year.”
A special thank you goes to local business Under the Greenwood Tree, who generously donated vouchers as prizes for the Best Dressed winners.
The annual Book Character Parade continues to be a much-loved highlight of the school year, bringing students, families and staff together to celebrate stories, reading and imagination.
