Scenic News has been operating on Tamborine Mountain since 1958. It has been an important part of the community, first as Tamborine Mountain News and in the last few years renamed as Scenic News.
On 31 March 2024, the ownership of Scenic News was transferred to Journalist Susie Cunningham, Graphic Designer Kate Cahill and Keer Moriarty – under the Scenic Rim Media Pty Ltd banner. Scenic Rim Media Pty Ltd specialise in hyper-local news in small communities and also produce Canungra Times and Beaudesert Bulletin in the Scenic Rim.
With the hyper-local focus of their papers in mind, they decided to change the name of Scenic News back to Tamborine Mountain News from.
Susie, Kate and Keer have been operating the Canungra Times and Beaudesert Bulletin newspapers since 2020.
Susie is an accomplished journalist with a keen sense of hyper-local news and a flair for photography.
Kate Cahill has worked in newspapers for over 30 years. She completed her Graphic Design training with Beaudesert Times in its heyday and her skills in print design are, in my opinion, unparalleled. Kate fondly remembers working with Eve Curtis on the Tamborine Mountain News when it was owned by the Tamborine Mountain Progress Association.
Keer has been involved with the Canungra Times for the past 15 years and in this time developed strong connections with many communities in the Scenic Rim, including Tamborine Mountain.
Fortunately they found an experienced local journalist, Cindy Lever, who will be working with the team to connect with people in the area for greater coverage of local news, sport and events.
The office at Shop 4/24 Main Street, Tamborine Mountain is open by appointment.
We are very grateful for the opportunity to be the custodians of a publication that has such a proud history in the area.
