COMBINING a monthly shop for fresh produce with a day out for the family is the winning offer now available to locals at the Towri Growers Market.
Launched early this year the markets showcase the best produce grown locally in the region in a fun atmosphere created to keep the youngest to the oldest entertained.
Starring real producers and growers only, the monthly paddock to plate growers market allows for shopping direct from a collective of Scenic Rim farmers, on the stunning grounds of Towri Sheep Cheeses at Allenview.
Dallas Davidson from Towri Sheep Cheeses was a key driver in starting the monthly grower’s market and said it was rewarding to see the vision come to life and the support it now receives on the first Saturday of every month.
“Connections and collaborations between farmers and consumers shine bright at the markets, with customers putting in pre-orders with our producers and really getting on board with supporting other local growers and makers,” she said.
“To say your farm hosts such a day is a beautiful humbling thing.
“Each month we aim to deliver an experience for guests and we take great pride in welcoming back repeat customers and watching the kids enjoy the lawn games, feeding our sheep and just running around.
“Our producer community is resilient, we’ve lived through fire, floods, drought, Covid, and a Christmas Day tornado, but people from all over Southeast Queensland now support us, coming to buy direct from growers and producers, to get to know us, to share our stories and become our extended family.”
Stars of the monthly market are names known, loved and highly respected and awarded, including Tommerup’s Dairy Farm, Towri Sheep Cheeses, Valley Pride Produce, Harry’s Paddock, The Black Bee Apiary, Barney Creek Vineyard, The Lingering Baker and many more.
Kay Tommerup from the sixth generation Tommerup’s Dairy Farm said if there’s one thing she had learnt about farmers and producers in the Scenic Rim, it was that they always found a way to fight back and survive.
“Anything is possible when we work together and support each other,” she said.
The Towri Growers Market’s success has come from producers supporting each other to create a regular on-farm produce experience, where authenticity and connection to farmers is the focus.”
